What is chevron amethyst?
Chevron amethyst is a banded variety of amethyst in which purple amethyst alternates with white or colourless quartz. Its name comes from the V-shaped patterns that often appear within the stone.
Not every piece has perfectly defined chevrons. Some display sharp zigzags, while others contain curved bands, cloudy areas or irregular layers of purple and white.
Chevron amethyst is also sometimes sold under the name dream amethyst. Both names generally refer to the same banded material.
